We are proud to announce the First Annual Teen Excellence in Leadership Institute (TELI) designed specifically for outstanding youth in Virginia 4-H and Virginia FFA. Students will participate in several leadership development activities, develop personalized action plans for engaged leadership, and learn more about advocacy and outreach as they become adult members of their communities. This program is partially funded by the Jack and Helen Tyree 4-H Leadership Endowment.
We are sure that you each have outstanding members of your clubs and chapters exhibiting leadership qualities that set them apart. TELI will be limited to 25 outstanding applicants that are 15-18 years of age at the time of nomination. Nomination and application forms will be available this summer and will be due in mid-August. This multi-event institute will consist of an in-person leadership development summit weekend in November, a virtual meeting in January 2015, and a presentation and graduation weekend in March 2015.
Please see the attached save-the-date program flyer for objectives and dates. Each agent and advisor may nominate more than one student, but only 25 will be selected from those submitting complete, on-time applications with attached nomination forms.
If you are interested in this fabulous opportunity please contact the extension office to receive the application packet once it becomes available.
Fairfax County 4-H will have a lemonade stand fundraiser at the Vienna 4th of July Festival. We are in need of a few good volunteers to help man the booth and sell lemonade to raise funds for the Fairfax County 4-H program. If you are interested in helping at the booth on the 4th of July, please contact the extension office. We will need volunteers throughout the day, and volunteers will be asked to work 1.5-2 hour shifts. This will be a fun event, and proceeds raised will go toward camp scholarships and other county-wide 4-H programming.
It has been brought to the attention of the office that some way to communicate dates and times of events would be helpful. Of course it would! I apologize it was not on here already. We will be adding a calendar to the website shortly, so be on the look out for that! If you/your club has any important dates to add, send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org.
